1. Analytical SCOPE-EAST reports "Identifying strategic research areas"

A multi-dimensional and future-oriented analysis was carried out in the frame of the SCOPE-EAST project, which consists of the following components
  • personal interviews with representatives of ministries and key organisations in charge of S/T cooperation in selected EU-Member States (MS), States associated to the RTD Framework Programme of the EU (Associated States - AS) and in Russia and Ukraine
  • bibliometric analysis of research potential in Russia and Ukraine
  • quantitative and qualitative analysis of Russian and Ukrainian participation in FP 6 including cooperation links to EU-25 within FP 6, INTAS, ISTC, STCU

These analyses were in particular designed to identify strategic research areas of mutual interest with potential for future cooperation and enhanced coordination between the Member States/Associated Candidate States and Russia and Ukraine. The analyses also assess trends, perspectives and needs for action regarding the framework conditions of S/T cooperation with Russia and Ukraine.

2. Options for an enhanced co-operation of Russia and Ukraine in the EU framework programme

The international opening of the European Research Area and the framework programme as its main instrument is a key target of European research policy. The studies below analyse in which thematic priorities of FP 7 Russia and Ukraine can make a substantial contribution.
