Four Thematic Workshops
Mission
Opening up the European Research Area to the world means building strategic partnerships with countries outside the European Union in research areas of mutual interest. Reinforcing and coordinating S&T cooperation with Russia and Ukraine at all levels is a vital contribution to these objectives and paves the way to realize the truly inclusive European Research Area.
The thematic workshops offer researchers from Russia, Ukraine, EU Member States and Associated Candidate States a forum to discuss the present state of co-operation, to identify cooperation potential and to develop new joint initiatives.
Mission
- To discuss the present state of cooperation with Russia and Ukraine (bilateral as well as within multilateral programmes or initiatives)
- To develop ideas for future cooperation projects and joint initiatives on a bi- or multilateral basis
- To develop ideas on optimum cooperation instruments for better linking individual scientists, research teams and S&T institutions
- Formulate requirements for the optimisation of the framework conditions for S&T cooperation with Russia and Ukraine
Results of the workshop may be
- Initiatives for joint bi- or multilateral projects of research teams
- New approaches for building thematic research networks
- New approaches to strategic partnerships between between S&T institutions,
- Initiatives for enhancing researcher mobility (in particular young researchers)
- Proposals for dedicated collaborative actions with Russia and the Ukraine in the thematic priorities of the 7th EU RTD Framework programme addressing S&T topics of particular added value
- Recommendations for the optimisation of the framework conditions for S&T cooperation with Russia and Ukraine
